Hacienda La Sierra and Oro Molido are deeply committed to social and environmental responsibility.

We believe in integrating our farms with the rural communities where we operate – providing employment, healthcare and education to ensure that the region’s way of life, where farming is done by hand and craftspeople make what is needed, remains a thriving part of Colombian culture.

By visiting Hacienda La Sierra, you’ll have the oportunity to experience the soul of Oro Molido: a family-run, world-class coffee company decided to make a better world. We are deeply committed to social and environmental responsibility. We want to ensure sustainability and increase our region’s growth. This goal is embodied in the Oro Molido Foundation project.

Oro Molido Foundation works to establish a higher standard of youth education in Colombia’s rural communities. With special emphasis on healthcare and education, we bring in doctors and nurses to provide annual check-ups at the local schools for students and parents. We also focus on programs that create a sense of community in the regional towns.

When the winds are just right at the Hacienda, it is possible to faintly hear the local high school marching band practicing. We have provided the instruments, uniforms and musical instruction so their music can entertain the entire town for holidays and special events.

We also take great pride in our land. Agriculture is our core business and growing the best coffee requires continuously working to preserve the natural ecosystem of our farms. We are Rainforest Alliance Certified and constantly work to protect the biodiversity of our land and region. We know that our land and community are inextricably connected to our success and see sustainable land use and community support as the best gift that we can give to the country we love – Colombia.
